Price cap on certain products  

In Montenegro, starting from 07. 09. 2024, temporary measures have been introduced to limit the prices of certain products that are of particular importance for the life and health of people.

· These products with capped margins (reduced prices) can be purchased in major retail chains, such as HD Laković, Voli, Franca, Mega Promet, Aroma, and similar stores.

· The goal of these measures is to make everyday life easier for citizens during a period of economic uncertainty.

 

FIRST GROUP OF PRODUCTS

Wheat flour type 400 and 500, granulated sugar, edible sunflower oil, and table salt for human consumption (1 kg) will be available at significantly lower prices, with a maximum margin of 5% in wholesale and 7% in retail.

 

SECOND GROUP OF PRODUCTS WITH CAPPED MARGIN

In addition to the already mentioned products, the Government of Montenegro has expanded the range of products where the margin is limited to 10% in both wholesale and retail.

These products include: domestic white cheese (bulk), yogurt with 2.8% fat (1 liter), permanent milk with 2.8% milk fat (1 liter), fresh cow's milk in a bag (1 liter), sour cream (up to 700g), whole chicken, pork neck without bones, beef and veal meat with bones, white long-grain rice in bags (800g to 1kg), pasta made from white flour (350g to 400g), margarine (250g), tea sausage, pressed ham, chicken breast, special salami, sujuk, beef tea sausage, hot dogs (800g), dried pork bacon, tuna and sardines (up to 200g), chicken and liver pâté (up to 100g), canned meat (150g), plum jam and marmalade (500g to 1kg), canned beef stew (up to 500g), ketchup (300g to 500g), fresh trout, syrup juice (1 liter), semi-hard cheese (edam, gouda), fresh potatoes, apples (idared), lemons, bananas, white beans, carrots, white cabbage, onions, shelled walnuts, frozen green beans (400g), frozen peas (400g), mint or chamomile tea (20g), petit beurre biscuits (500g), pudding and whipped cream in sachets (40g to 60g), olive oil (1 liter), apple cider vinegar (1 liter), oatmeal (up to 250g), and cocoa and hazelnut cream (500g).

THIRD GROUP OF PRODUCTS – HYGIENE PRODUCTS

The third group of products, where the maximum margin is 10% in wholesale and 15% in retail, includes:

Baby soap (up to 100g), baby diapers (40+ pieces), baby shampoo and bath (200ml to 500ml), fruit purées for babies (up to 130g), shampoo (1 liter), bath (250ml), toothpaste (125ml), three-ply toilet paper (pack of 10), powdered laundry detergent (3 kg), dishwashing detergent (500ml to 1000ml), sanitary pads (up to 10 pieces), shaving foam (200ml), disposable razors for men and women, and abrasive cleaning agents (up to 500ml).

These temporary measures last until January 31, 2025.
